Bat Jawbone Studs

$58.00

I created these stud earrings by molding a jawbone from a (naturally) deceased bat and casting it. The jawbone was split in half so the pair creates a complete lower jaw. Sterling silver posts and secure ear nuts complete the piece. The delicate jaw measures 1/2" long x 1/8" wide.

I am an animal lover and collector of curiosities. I find so much beauty in the natural world and strive to capture and preserve it in my artwork. Things that may seem strange to some intrigue me. Many of the objects and creatures I collect I find repulsively beautiful. I enjoy the dichotomy; the push/pull quality of the concept, the grotesque nature of the reality of the object juxtaposed with the eternal and ethereal finish of metal. All items are handmade with love in my home studio.
