Hummingbird Skull Pendant

This pendant is molded and cast from a real hummingbird skull. The hummingbird died of natural causes and was given to me by a dear friend. I carefully deconstructed the delicate body and a mold was made of the skull. The mold is then injected with wax and cast using the lost wax casting method. It is a delicate balance of beautiful and creepy; commemorating the life of a curious creature.

Hummingbirds have spiritual meaning and symbolism for many cultures. Some believe that hummingbirds are messengers from the afterworld or manifestations of a dead person's spirit. They are associated with beauty, harmony, industriousness, and integrity. As a spirit animal, the hummingbird symbolizes the enjoyment of life and lightness of being.
